Explain you understand the pension fund has investments in fossil fuels and other carbon intensive companies.
Tell them you wish to make a formal complaint as e.g. this is morally, ethically and financially irresponsible, because they are using your money to fund climate change, when they should be investing in a safe green future.
Make your complaint statement personal, reflecting your own situation and concerns, in your own words.
If you belong to a Trade Union and want to demonstrate support for the divest fossil fuels / invest in climate-friendly pensions campaign, you can ask your union branch to debate and support a motion. Then promote this motion amongst your members, and call them to action. You can also communicate this to the wider public in your area, through local and social media press releases.
Yu can download a Motion Template here:

Protecting our Pensions and the Planet is a briefing for Councillors and outlines what fossil fuel divestment is, how divestment safeguards pensions and our communities, and why now is the time for them and us to act!
